Chief Technology Officer
As the Chief Technical Officer at our client, a Software as a Service (SaaS) company, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the technical vision. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead the engineering and technology teams to a modern, mature, DevOps and agile organization (35+ FTE) and be part of the Management Team. You will be driving innovation, scalability, and efficiency. Your strategic leadership will be crucial in maintaining the competitive edge and ensuring the long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Strategy and Vision: Develop and communicate a clear technology strategy aligned with the overall goals and objectives. Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies and trends relevant to the industry and evaluate their potential impact on the product roadmap.
- Product Development and Roadmap: Lead the product development lifecycle from concept to delivery, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and user-friendly SaaS solutions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and marketing, to prioritize features and enhancements based on customer feedback and market demand.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the DevOps team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Set and enforce coding standards, best practices, and development methodologies to maintain code quality, security, and scalability.
- Infrastructure and Architecture: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure Platform) to support the SaaS applications.
- Drive architectural decisions that balance short-term delivery goals with long-term scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Quality Assurance and Architecture: Establish and maintain processes and tolls for automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment to ensure rapid and reliable delivery of software updates.
- Champion a culture of DevOps, where development, Infra & Security, and ServiceDesk teams collaborate closely to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Data Management and Analytics: Define and implement data management strategies to ensure integrity, availability, and security of customer data.
- Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to derive insights that inform product decisions and drive business growth.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to security, privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of industry standards and best practices to ensure the SaaS offerings adhere to relevant regulations and certifications.
- Cost Control and Budget Management: Develop and manage the technology department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective execution of projects.
- Implement cost control measures and monitor spending to optimize operational efficiency and maximize ROI on technology investments.
- Key Metrics Definition: Collaborate with stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for the technology department, aligning with business objectives and goals.
- Establish metrics related to software development, infrastructure performance, service reliability, and customer satisfaction to measure the effectiveness of technology initiatives.
- Implement systems and tools for tracking and reporting on key metrics, providing visibility into departmental performance, and facilitating data-driven decision-making.
- Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with third-party vendors, including offshore development teams, ensuring alignment with project timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
- Define and negotiate service level agreements (SLAs) and contracts with vendors to establish clear expectations for deliverables, performance, and support.
- Provide guidance and support to offshore teams, ensuring adherence to project requirements, coding standards, and best practices.
- Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular reviews to assess compliance with SLAs, identify areas for improvement, and address any issues or concerns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or master’s degree in business or computer science. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record of leadership in technology roles, with at least 10 years of experience in SaaS or cloud-based software development.
- Strong understanding of modern architecture, cloud computing, and scalable web technologies.
- Expertise in Linux, Oracle, Java, React, and associated technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) and containerization technologies (AKS).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
